At FlickCheck (“we”, “us”, or “the App”), we attach great importance to your privacy and the security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your data when you use the FlickCheck mobile application and our services.

By using the App, you agree to the data collection and usage terms described in this policy.

 

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information to provide you with a better experience and to operate features such as “Find Movies by Mood”:

a. Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Email address, Username, and Password (stored as encrypted) provided when registering for the App.

  • Profile Data: Your profile photo, biography (if any), and full name information.

  • User Content (UGC): Comments shared on CineFeed, movie ratings, watchlists, favorites, and your watch history.

  • Communication Data: Messages exchanged with other users via the “Chat” feature.

b. Automatically Collected Information

  • Device and Usage Information: Device model, operating system version, IP address, and in-app interaction data.

  • Location Information (Region Level): We use general location data (country-based) to correctly display the digital platforms (Netflix, Prime, etc.) available in your current country. Sensitive GPS data is not collected.

 

3. How We Use Your Information

We process the data we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing the Service: To offer personalized movie/series recommendations and operate mood filters.

  • Social Features: To allow you to follow friends, view the CineFeed stream, and message each other.

  • Account Management: To create, verify, and secure your account.

  • Notifications: To inform you about new messages, follows, or recommendations (Push Notifications).

  • Development: To analyze app performance and fix bugs.

 

4. Sharing Your Information

We never sell your personal data to third parties. We only share your data in the following situations:

  • Service Providers: With infrastructure providers such as database hosting (Supabase), analytics, and notification services.

  • Legal Obligations: With competent authorities when required by law or in response to a legal process.

  • Other Users: Your profile, follower list, and CineFeed posts may be viewed by other users (depending on your privacy settings).

 

5. Data Retention and Security

Your data is protected by industry-standard security measures (SSL encryption, secure servers). We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. However, we cannot guarantee that any data transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

 

6. Your Rights and Account Deletion

As a user, you have full control over your data:

  • Access and Correction: You can update your information at any time from your profile settings.

  • Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data using the Settings > Delete My Account option within the App. This action is irreversible, and all your watch history, comments, and messages will be removed from our servers.

 

7. Children’s Privacy

FlickCheck is not intended for children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete that information immediately.

 

8. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites (Netflix, Amazon Prime, TMDB, etc.). FlickCheck is not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites.

 

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes become effective on the date they are posted on this page. We will notify you via in-app notification regarding significant changes.
